What Gives Dunkin' Donuts Ground Coffee Its Signature Taste?

Smooth, delicious and flavorful, Dunkin' Donuts Ground Coffee, Decaffeinated, has a classic taste. Dunkin' Donuts coffee blend uses 100% Arabica beans, regarded in the industry as a superior grade of coffee, to provide you with the Original Blend coffee that made Dunkin' Donuts famous. Dunkin' Donuts coffee is made with the strict standards required to qualify as kosher.

How Is Decaffeinated Coffee Made?

To make decaffeinated coffee like this medium roast ground coffee for Dunkin' Donuts, coffee beans are steamed for half an hour and then rinsed with solvents that dissolve the caffeine from the beans. The moist green coffee beans are cleaned with water, steamed again and rinsed again with solvents. Usually, this process is followed several times until the coffee beans have reached the desired level of caffeine.

A second step is called the Swiss Water Process and is similar to the first but uses a charcoal filter. The green coffee beans are soaked and the caffeine stripped using activated carbon filters. The sparkling water decaffeination process is similar to the CO2 process, but instead of removing the caffeine with activated carbon filters, the caffeine is washed from the beans with sparkling water in a secondary tank.

About Dunkin' Donuts

The success of Dunkin' Donuts started in 1950 with a single donut shop run by Bill Rosenberg in Quincy, Massachusetts. Today, there are over 6,000 shops. While it's true that Dunkin' Donuts is named for its donuts, it's Dunkin' Donuts coffee that's fueled the phenomenon. So what kind of brew could create such a stir?
