About this item
Born French, raised in California: Born in 1973 from the sparkling connection between two pioneers, and raised among the peaks and valleys of the golden state of California, we are Chandon California. Vibrant, fresh, approachable. We invite you to grab your squad, pop a bottle, and discover more.
étoile Rosé is the perfect marriage of fruit-forward red and an elegantly structured white. A blend of our exceptional current vintage and best reserve wines, étoile Rosé is renowned for its elegance and complexity. étoile Rosé loves to live the good life, with foie gras, salmon, trout or duck confit with plum salad: the richer the better. On the nose: Fresh aromas of plum, raspberry and nutmeg. On the palate: étoile Rosé is a bold and understated blend with subtle and delicate cocoa flavors. étoile Rosé was awarded 92 pts by Wine Spectator.
Chandon was sparked into life in 1973 by the visionary spirit of Robert-Jean de Vogüé and California pioneer John Wright. As one of the first French-owned sparkling wine ventures in the U.S., Chandon carefully selected its vineyards and are now considered to be amongst the best for producing quality sparkling wines in California. In true pioneering spirit, our founders set out to combine French winemaking techniques, American entrepreneurship and knowledge with the beautiful sun-ripened fruit of the Golden State to create California Sparkling Wine that showcases the brightness of California terroir and the vibrancy of California grapes. Chandon has been a champion of sparkling wines for a long time now, sticking to tradition in terms of winemaking techniques and standards, but also innovating with wines like Sweet Star and Rosé Alumini.
Napa Green Certified Land Program. This third-party vineyard certification involves developing a custom, whole-farm conservation plan focused on: reducing erosion and sediment runoff, identifying and reducing harmful inputs, conserving water resources, protecting and restoring riparian habitat, and ensuring healthy employees and happy neighbors. Farm Plans are third-party certified by representatives of the Napa County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office; National Marine Fisheries Services; and Certified Erosion Control Experts. The winery’s approach to viticulture is naturalism. By using integrated pest management, Chandon employs methods of pheromone disruption to reduce predatory insect populations as well as insect releases to increase the beneficial wildlife in the vineyards who feed on pests. The winery has also built housing for local blue birds to manage insect populations, while encouraging nocturnal predation as a control of destructive vertebrates, like gophers and mice, with the help of local owls. The winery has been leading and promoting soil conservation practices in the Napa region for more than 20 years. Soil health drives the cultivation strategy towards non-tillage permanent ground cover in all the vineyards to manage weeds.
