Composting is a great way to recycle leftovers, kitchen scraps and organic debris found around the yard into rich top soil that also doubles as mulch. At 7-cubic feet, the Compost Wizard Jr. sits out of the way yet is big enough to handle a typical load. It comes in two pieces, fully assembled. With no waiting to compost, you can start the second the composter arrives. Handles on the Compost Wizard Jr. provide an excellent grip for turning and won't break apart. Inside the bin, those same hand holds double as agitators for the compost. It turns easily because the compost bin sits on a wheeled base. If you want to roll the bin around the yard, it can be taken right off the base. Roll compost from your prime composting spot all the way to your garden. The 12" twist off lid keeps compost safely closed off and keeps out animals, large and small. Avoid adding meat or high protein foods or you'll get flies (also good for compost, but smelly and obnoxious). Each end of the compost bin has plenty of aeration holes which provide much needed airflow for the compost batch. You can even drill more if you live in areas that don't get as much moving air or get really hot. Made with 100% recycled polyethylene, it's BPA-free and FDA-approved for contact with edibles. No chemicals, toxic or otherwise, leech into your compost. The Jr is black, the most efficient color at absorbing the sun's heat, keeping compost at a nice hot temperature of 100-150 degrees F (38-66 C). The only thing you have to do is rotate the drum once a week. If your batch of materials is balanced properly and conditions are perfect, you'll have compost in as quickly as 21 days. For best results, wait for a single batch to completely compost before adding more material. (21-day projection is based on ideal conditions.)

Received the composter as ordered, in a timely manner. All of its parts were included in the box. It took minimal time to set up once a location was decided upon. It's not a distraction to the yard as far as looks go, it's not a pretty thing but is not displeasing to the eye and it serves a greatly needed function..

Can't grade properly until I've used it a few week

I've been using a similar one almost 20yrs! It's withstood freezing temps, heat %26 everything in-between. I'm positive I'll get 20 more useful years from my original %26 equal time from the new one .

5 Star all the way for size, easy tumbler, EZ lid twist, large capacity. Prefer the tan color but black will do just fine! Lots to learn about organics and compost. Read, read, read.

Easy to Tumble!

Product is easy to use in every way - turns smoothly, lid opens and closes easily. I'm very satisfied.

This product is everything it is advertised to be.

The ventilation/drainage holes an the sides are too large allowing many flies to enter/exit the the composter & muliply. I had to spray the the flies because there were so many. I filled most of the holes with flexseal & that eliminated the fly problem. The composter requires moderate effort to turn when it's filled with fresh material. The large opening makes it easy to load and the screw lid is secure.

Fly problem initially

This simple little composter is so easy to work with.  It comes ready to use.  Just set the barrel on the platform and start filling it up.  It is perfect for me, a single person with kitchen scraps and shredded paper from a small shredder.  I also have pine trees and always rake the pine needles up around the tree trunks.  Beneath all those pine needles is good soil already beginning to compost.  Add that to the composter and it shouldn't take long at all to have come wonderful compost.

There are 2 things that I would improve on if I could and that is the fact that the composter sits on the ground and is hard to get to.  I fixed that by sitting it up on a wooden table so I wan work with it easier.  The 2nd thing is the indentions where you grasp the barrel to turn it.  First, the indention is not deep enough especially if you have any length to your fingernails at all.  Also when it rains be careful when you turn the barrel towards you.  When you turn it hard and fast you will wear the rain water that has collected in the base wheels.  I'm just sayin'.

Overall I love this composter.  It is very close to perfect.

Awesome little composter

Bought this in May 2017,  very sturdy. Nothing to assemble.  Lots of room.  Rotation is easy.  My only complaint is the screw on lid needs a better design. The nubbin grippers on top are hard and slippery. Especially with gloves on. A bar across the lid to turn would be better.

Very pleased

This container is large and gets the job done but there are a few points of contention that i have. 1-when it is more than half full it is difficult for me (a female) to spin. 2-the base that it sits on does not stay solidly still. It will move around and not stay properly in tracks. I had a miracle grow compost container previously and I actually liked it except for the lid. It was difficult to pop open and my son sat on it and cracked it so i could no longer spin it without it leaking. So I was very please with the ease of this container's lid-no hassle or strong arming it. Basically i swapped out set of problems for another when i tried a different container.

Gets the job done and large

I would have given it one star but the size is nice and the concept it great. BUT the wheels keep coming off of the bolts. I have tried tightening them, spinning it in the opposite direction, turning it around, nothing worked. It get pretty heavy when full and trying to take it off the base to put the bolt and not back together is nearly impossible. I would have returned it but it has obviously dirty and I didn't keep the box. I will stick to my compost bed instead.

Not worth the money

The vent holes are rather large. Which just allows for slightly more insect activity than I desired. And the nuts will spin off the bolts causing the wheels to not stay on. Requiring constant re-tightening or some loctite.
