BlueDEF® Diesel Exhaust Fluid (2.5 gal.) is a primary element when it comes to the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) process and it is used by most medium- and heavy-duty engine builders in order to meet the 2010 regulations set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). BlueDEF is a non-toxic solution that is an ideal choice for when you need help converting NOx into nitrogen gas and water vapor.
What Happens if BlueDEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid Freezes?
This diesel exhaust fluid is specifically designed to allow your engine to start even if the weather dips well below freezing. It has a freezing point of 12 degrees Fahrenheit (-11 degrees Celsius), which in no way will affect the normal operation of your engine. Furthermore, your engine will continue to run normally as well even if you happen to run out of DEF exhaust fluid.
Where is DEF Stored in a Vehicle?
Typically, BlueDEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid will be stored inside a primary, dedicated tank, which can be found next to the fuel tank on the driver's side of the vehicle. Usually, these tanks range in size from 6 gal. to 23 gal. As little as 1 gal. of BlueDEF exhaust fluid will last for approximately 300 miles, so depending on your vehicle, a full tank of stored DEF can last for up to 6900 miles. Regardless of the size of the tank in your vehicle, the DEF tank will have a specific kind of opening that has been engineered to accommodate the BlueDEF nozzle, thereby helping you to ensure that only DEF exhaust fluid is put into the tank instead of another liquid.
Is BlueDEF Considered Safe and Reliable?
This DEF for trucks has been carefully perfected so that it is stable, colorless and odorless. It also meets the ISO standards (22241) for both composition and purity. Furthermore, it has been certified as a diesel exhaust fluid by the American Petroleum Institute, so you can rest assured that you are getting a high-quality product that has been rigorously tested to meet safety standards and ensure optimum SCR performance.
