Better Made Potato Chips began in 1934. Better Made now uses 60 million pounds of chip potatoes every year and the entire chip-making process is complex. The potatoes are first purchased in bulk and unloaded from delivery trucks before they're then taken by conveyors to storage bins. The fresh potatoes are automatically conveyed to fryers where they are washed, peeled, sliced and inspected.
Next, each potato slice is conveyed to temperature-controlled cookers for cooking. The chips are then lightly salted and taken by an overhead conveyor system to packaging machines that weigh, form, fill and seal the finished bags. These potato chips go from farm to bag. Although a lot has changed over the years, great flavor and best ingredients are never substituted.
