Annie's Organic Shells and White Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese, the Original Annie's Innovation
Annie's white cheddar mac and cheese was the very first product created by its founder Annie Withey in 1989. Back then, boxed mac and cheese meals were plentiful, but they were also packed with artificial flavors, colorings and preservatives—and little to no real cheese. Withey was inspired to create white cheddar macaroni and cheese as an alternative to what was available on the market, originally selling boxes of her creation out of the back of her pickup truck.
Annie’s recipe featured real white cheddar cheese and pasta shells. The boxes featured illustrations of Withey's pet rabbit Bernie, whose image still graces the boxes of most of Annie's creations, including her signature flagship product. Since its inception, the recipe has remained the same, changing only in 1998 when it became all-organic mac and cheese. Shortly thereafter, the iconic bunny-branded boxes became crafted with 100 percent recycled cardboard, further reducing the company's already minimal carbon footprint.

Annie's organic macaroni and cheese starts with sustainably-sourced, non-GMO ingredients. The organic wheat used to craft the shell pasta is grown without persistent pesticides, sourced from family farms, along with Annie's white cheddar. The milk comes from cows raised without synthetic hormones or antibiotics. The cheese sauce is free from trans fat and all natural.
Annie's white cheddar mac and cheese is easy to prepare on the stovetop; each serving contains 10g of protein and just 270 calories when prepared with milk. Each multicount unit includes 12 boxes of white cheddar macaroni and cheese.
