Bold and uncaged, Z. Alexander Brown unleashes palate-provoking wine rooted in the heart of California Wine Country. WINEMAKER’S NOTE Z. Alexander Brown’s 2017 Sauvignon Blanc opens with bright aromas of lemongrass, melon, and guava. On the palate, tropical flavors of passion fruit and mango are accented by zesty lemon, lime and orange blossom. Refreshing and balanced, this medium-bodied Sauvignon Blanc extends into a juicy, lingering finish. VINTAGE 2017 in the vineyard started off positively, with ample rain further establishing a strong root system able to support a lush canopy of leaves and a good crop level. Warm days and cool nights in the spring and summer led to even development and ripening of the grapes. Following a mild spring without any frost damage the early summer conditions were mild, promoting even canopy growth and fruit development, ultimately resulting in a wine we can be proud of. WINEMAKING Throughout the growing season, winemaker John Killebrew visited each vineyard block regularly until he determined the right moment to harvest. The fruit for this Sauvignon Blanc was picked during the cool, early morning hours and gently pressed. The juice was allowed to rest for 24 hours before yeast was added to start the fermentation, then was transferred to small stainless steel tanks and fermented at low temperatures over a few weeks. A long, cool fermentation retains the vibrant aromatics and bright acidity we aim to preserve in this stunning Sauvignon Blanc.

I am a Chardonnay drink regularly but due to being on the keto diet they recommended switching to a liter carb wine.  I have tried them all with minimal satisfaction until now.  This wine has so much depth of flavor and full bodied for a Sauvignon Blanc.  I love it....now finding it is hard.  I found it in the Vons market in Big Bear but can’t find it locally.  Still searching in my home town.  When I go back to Big Bear....I’m buying a case!

I live in an area of strictly Chardonnay drinkers, but that has never been a wine for me. I found this online over the spring and have loved it ever since! Excellent, excellent Sauvignon Blanc. Reminds me of some I have had in Europe years ago.

I continue to have employees at the Wine & Spirits Store try and direct me to the Sauv Blanc from New Zealand. Almost disturbed that this is my choice. I’ve had that and far prefer this! Keep it coming!
