The third member of the Old Forester Whiskey Row Series, which invites bourbon lovers to taste their way through Old Forester history through each unique expression. In 1920, Prohibition began prohibiting the production, transport and sale of alcohol. However, Old Forester was one of six distilleries to receive a permit to continue selling Old Forester for medicinal purposes. Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style, presented at 115 Proof, is a small batch of barrels representing a barrel sample that would have been batched at the beginning of Prohibition, resulting in a woodsy and warm Bourbon. The Volstead Act of 1920 which initiated Prohibition in the USA granted permits to six distillers in Kentucky to continue to bottle bourbon for medicinal purposes. Through one of these permits, Old Forester continued to be produced as medicinal whiskey on Louisville’s famed Whiskey Row. It is the only bourbon continuously sold by the same company that has been available for sale before, during and after Prohibition. During this time, all whiskies had to be bottled at 100 Proof. With a barrel entry proof of 100, the “angel’s share” would have created a 115 proof whiskey after maturation. To pay homage to this era, Old Forester presents 1920 Prohibition Style Bourbon at 115 proof to represent the rich flavor profile this bourbon had nearly 100 years ago. <h3>Brown Derby Recipe</h3> Ingredients: <ul> <li>1.5 oz. Old Forester 1920</li> <li>0.05 oz. Honey Syrup</li> <li>1 oz. Fresh Grapefruit Juice</li> </ul> Instructions: <ol> <li>Add all ingredients into a shaker tin.</li> <li>Add ice and shake vigorously.</li> <li>Strain into a large rocks glass (or double rocks glass) over a large cube.</li> <li>To make honey syrup: add 2 parts honey to 1 part water. Any type of honey will work but Acacia or Orange Blossom are our favorites.</li> </ol>

1920 in my opinion is the far most superior of the whiskey row line up. Old Forrester is a wonderful distillery producing quality pours that drink way easier than how they are proofed. This bourbon has great legs and a great viscous mouthfeel that coats the palette with just the right amount of oak.

Great bourbon for the price! This is one of my favorites for sipping or using in a mixer. You really can't go wrong with this stuff. I have repeatedly bought this item.

This is the best whiskey I have ever drank.   It is smooth and much better than any other whiskey I have had in my house. It has a big kick so be careful of how much you drink.

Good bourbon and readily available. I think it’s their best regular production bourbon they have. Definitely better than the 1910 and likely better than most single barrels they put out which tend to be a shot in the dark. These are consistently good. Staple on the bar
