Fancy Carnations are a species of Dianthus. Its technical name is Dianthus Caryophyllus. Historically the Greeks and Romans first used carnations as they created floral garlands for important events. Carnations are recognized as being rich with symbolism and mythology. The name is from the Greek words (DI) Zeus the supreme Greek god and ruler of Olympus and (ANTHOS) flower. Carnation’s wide range of colors make them very versatile and they are used in many types of floral arrangements and designs.&nbsp; <h3>Flower Care</h3> We recommend keeping your flowers in a cool location away from direct sunlight or heat. Also avoid placing any ripening fruit near your flowers as they release gasses that may cause your flowers to expire at a faster rate. Fill your vase using filtered water and a floral preservative if available. Give the stems a fresh cut at an angle using a very sharp knife or pair of garden shears, and immediately place in a container of water. Replace all water daily keeping water levels close to the vase opening. As some flowers begin to wilt, remove them so they don’t spread bacteria to the rest of the bouquet. Certain flowers will fade before others.
