The Amaryllis produces stems with showy, trumpet-shaped blossoms and broad, strap-shaped, arching leaves, making it a stunning addition to any garden.</p> <h3>Exotic Ixia</h3> <p>Meet the exotic, South African cousin of the iris family - Ixia. This plant features bright and cheery, sometimes bicolor, flattish flower spikes that bloom on wiry stems with grass-like, sometimes twisted leaves. The blooms have striking, dark, semi cup-shaped centers. Ixia thrives in dry, warm climates and offers wildflower charm in the foreground of mixed plants or in naturalized drifts.</p> <h3>Soil Prep &amp; Planting Instructions</h3> <p>The ideal soil for these plants is porous and drains well, yet still holds enough water for the roots. If your soil is heavy clay and drains slowly, or very sandy and does not hold water, add organic soil amendments such as peat moss or ground bark. Spread a 3-4" layer of soil amendment, add fertilizer and incorporate together into the soil to a depth of 10". Dig a hole, place bulb(s) in hole at the recommended depth and spacing, then cover with soil.
