When planting, spread a 3-4" layer of soil amendment, add fertilizer, and incorporate together into the soil to a depth of 10".

After planting, water thoroughly. While the peonies are actively growing, water frequently and thoroughly so that the water reaches the roots. Mulching can help keep the soil cool and prevent it from drying out. For best results, apply fertilizer before and after flowering.
