Intrinsic has tremendous complexity and imparts raw characteristics because 45% of the grapes stayed on the skins after fermentation for approximately 9 months (average time from crush to press for red wine is under a month). This extended maceration extracted the intrinsic qualities of the grape, mellowed tannins and created an unexpected silky texture. 10% of wine was aged in concrete tanks for 9 months, highlighting the mineral character of the wine and 45% of the final blend aged in 100% older French oak for 14 months.

This wine had a great velvety front and a very smooth and powerful fruit finish. We both found this to be an easy to drink wine that is great as a stand alone glass or would pair well with red meat dishes.

I am not a heavy red wine drinker; however, I happily found this particular bottle and brand to lack the overly dry and bitter flavor that most red wines have. I recommend any red wine drinker or rookie red wine drinker to try this brand. It is delicious!

Wine in Spring

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first sip the wine was very tannic. But after the first sip everything mellows out a bit and it becomes more of a softer cab. Fruit forward and smooth. I am not a fan of the label, as it appears more of a lower end wine like Apothic and I tend to avoid branding like that when buying wines I’ve never tasted before. But I am glad I could try this and know it is different than it appears.
