I previously had a portable emergency generator that helped me through a few hurricanes.  I retired a few months ago & built a house on my rural property 100 miles away.  Two years ago that area 
suffered a couple of bad storms & the community was without electrical power for weeks.  I now have my own well & electrical system.  Storms as we have in Southeast Georgia will not affect me as much in the future.

Bought this generator about 6 weeks ago.  The install was completed without any issues or concerns.  Final connection was completed after gas company upgraded the meter.  We had a power outage about 2 weeks after the install and never noticed the power going out.  The generator started so fast there was never a flicker of the lights.

Great product

I had a 5000 watt generator( 13 horse Briggs and Stratton ) I bought for Y2K  and this is a huge upgrade for me and I only have to hook it up once this time. 😊. It's always ready for me now. Thx. 😊

Easy Set up

Love the smaller size, equally powerful, and talks to me! So many updates from the original generator it replaced!

Very reassuring getting email alerts telling me it is testing and 'Ready to run'!!! No more guessing if it is working. Direct communication with Generex is an added bonus! Best feature ever!!

Smaller, but powerful!

Bought two and had them istalled by certified electrician. Had a little electronic issue on one unit and and called generac support. Isolated issue and they had warranty man on location and the issue was fixed in two days from the call. All equipment will have problems from time to time. I will use generac for my office shortly as support and warranty follow up were excellent

The Generac we purchased was the best investment we made for our house. The area that we live in constantly loses power in unfavorable weather conditions. Having the Generac gives us a peace of mind and provides us with less worry and stability for our large family.

Really like the product so for. All went well to hook up. Few people in the neighborhood are inquiring about the generator. The disappointment is the WIFI that has an expensive monthly charge after the first year. Will not use that option after the trial is up.

Great features

I live north of Buffalo, NY and we get some wild weather. 20+ years ago I had a 13kw partial home Generac generator installed I never had an issue with its operation for 2 decades. Due the age of the 13kw and hours I had on the unit - I added a manual hour meter; it was time for an upgrade. I chose the 18kw whole house with external whole house transfer switch. The dealer arrived with 2 installers and 3 electricians and knocked out the replacement installation in about 6 hours which was remarkably fast. It was also tiptop work and passed the town electrical inspection quickly. 

The new 18kw whole house Generac is totally next generation with the app connectivity, ease of access for service, upgraded all aluminum cabinet, sloped top to assist snow removal to the front of the machine away from the rear air intake and the included battery and oil filter heater and an AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery, not a standard lead acid battery ensuring top performance in very cold weather. 

The green status light on the side and even on the air intake is huge improvement as well along with app. The whole house function is worth the investment because I no longer have to guess which circuits are powered.

My only concern is that the rear located air intake is a little too low to the ground for my comfort. The rear air intake is only 16 inches off the ground (see photo) and we can get 24 inches of blowing, drifting snow fast. With the low air intake could potentially get blocked with snow. I'm mulling some sort of a DIY snow guard near the air intake on the back of the generator. Perhaps a drift fence on both sides of the generator about 2-3 feet away. 

I also enabled a 7-year warranty on the new 18kw Generac as part of a promotion, a definite plus. 

Based on my 20+ years of Generac ownership and after seeing the remarkable upgrades on the 2026 whole home 18kw Generac unit I can enthusiastically endorse Generac automatic standby natural gas generators without hesitation

Great longevity, NO issues for 20+ years

Great investment. Having heat and an elevated sense of security during inclimate weather has put us at ease. At first, the cost may be a little frightening, but you won't be disappointed in the purchase when you are warm and safe in your home, when others aren't so fortunate.

Highly Recommended

After a flood I call the dealer that installed the system and they came out very quickly and restarted the system. Even though the water level went up the side of my unit approx. 6 to 8 inches. It restarted without any problem.
My next call for service was when the green light turned to red. I called to get advise on what I needed to do. I never received a call back. It's been several weeks still no answer. I went ahead and restarted and so far the system is running and the light is staying green.

The installation was a fire and mechanical hazard. 

1. Putting the garage door down ripped the wires down causing the door to get stuck.

2. The garage door spring cables rubbed on the power lines - creating a fire hazard.

The installation is being redone. I may change my review after the problems are corrected.
