We purchased the General Electric 7-cubic Chest Freezer for my Mother, and she absolutely loves it! She told us it's the perfect size for her & it gives her the extra freezer space without being too large. She likes the locking feature & the extra baskets included, she is very happy with her new little freezer. :)

Perfect Size Freezer

We received this as a gift for Christmas in '06. We picked it up at Sam's. We love it. It has been used everyday for the last 6 years and we've moved over 4 times. It's still in great shape and works wonderfully!! Freezes quickly and I keep it very full. Am considering purchasing another as they are small enough for my husband and I to move and yet have plenty of freezer space for the price.

Gift-6 years ago

We needed another freezer & originally went to Sam's to purchase the 5 cu ft GE freezer. When we got to the club we saw that they also had this 7 cu ft in stock & it was just $30 more than the 5 cu ft.

After comparing to two side by side we decided on this one. It is actually pretty large on the inside & comes with 2 removeable hanging baskets. One feature we really like is that there is a removeable metal "divider fence" on the open side of the inside step. This step is there to provide room for the compressor which is located below it on the outside.

We also have a 5 cu ft freezer of a different brand that we still use. It also has the same step but no "divider fence" & we have found that frozen goods don't always want to stay on that step when the freezer is not full. So the fence is a very good idea.

We have owned it for about a month now & it is working well. It holds 0 degrees with the temp dial set at number 4.

Only "con" would be that it DOES NOT have wheels. The bottom is flat & you just slide it. Not that big of a deal for us.

If you try & buy in bulk to save some bucks like we do, kick in the extra $30 & get this 7 cu ft & not the smaller one. You'll eventually need the extra interior freezer space.

Good Freezer

Use in our restaurant for bagged ice storage for over two years and it works great! We keep it at the lowest setting possible and it still keeps ice very, very frozen. Buying a second one for back-up storage. Small enough you can push it outside for draining. Recommend you get a hose that fits over drain mouth. We go through about 200 pounds of ice a week and defrost once every two months. It's so cheap, if it every does break I won't feel bad, I'll just go out and buy another one.

Had my chest freezer delivered today and I could not be happier. The GE delivery men were courteous and set up my new freezer in the room I wanted them to. I had been concerned that I'd need to drag this thing up the steps myself but no need to worry, The deliverymen handled everything and were super careful of my furniture.
Unlike the photo, at the base of this unit there is the temperature control and an on indicator light. My last chest freezer was VERY old and had no such controls. No light, no nothing.
VERY happy with the right side seperator. It is removable for larger storage needs but I like being able to seperate out say boxed goods from things that I packaged up myself.
2 baskets, YAY! A comperable model by Kenmore only has one basket (eew cheap plastic# and no divider.
I just cannot say enough good things about this chest freezer. Ordering was easy, delivery was VERY impressive #when do delivery men smile these days???) and the unit itself is an incredible value for what you're getting. I plan to stuff it full of food from Sam's Club!

Completely Satisfied

I bought the GE 7.0 freezer at Sam's Club. I looked at Home Depot and Loews and a few other stores for a 7.0 freezer. The one at Sam's was better and the price was about $40 cheaper. The GE 7.0 freezers at the other stores only had 1 wire basket. The one at Sam's had 2 wire baskets. Plus, where the compressor is, on the right side of the freezer, there is a gate that slides down and keeps all the food from falling into the bottom of the freezer--which is a plus. And the freezer has a lock on it. It was easy for me to get it into my basement with a small collapsible hand truck, by myself. I had it all set up before my wife even got home. After I had cleaned it, I set the temperature to a little past 4 on the temp setting, and within 6 hours it was already at zero degrees. I bought a little thermometer and put it on the basket to show me the temp. By morning it was already between 4 and 5 degrees below zero. When you plug it in, there's a little green light to show you that the freezer is on, and it is very quiet--you don't even know it's down there. The next morning we filled it with food. A Great Chest Freezer

I bought this product after pricing many others at many store, and found Sams Club price and warranty was the best for my money. We picked up the freezer, brought it home, cleaned and set controls as the instructions stated...this G.E freezer is very quiet, freezes quickly, is larger on the inside then I expected, has 2 basket and locks. I have only had this freezer a few weeks but I am more then pleased with this puchase. I am looking forward to buying in bulk and filling this freezer.

Great Price, Great Product

Bought to replace a smaller unit that was over 35 years old...lost to a lightning strike. Is a good size for small spaces like apartments or to fit in an out of the way space in the garage, kitchen or activity room. It's light and easy to move (empty), quiet and has quite a bit more food storage inside than it appears to have.

Good Choice for Small Spaces

This freezer stopped working 4 months after purchase. I didnt purchase the warranty so i cannot get it fixed. I just missed the return date.
