The outflow is at the top of the unit. Make sure to have clearance on the sides and bottom so that airflow is not restricted or blocked and make sure to have clearance above the unit so that it is not positioned under a counter or window ledge. The ideal placement is on an open wall of a room where the air can flow to and from the unit without restriction. Outstanding product that works as advertised.

Great Product

currently I am loving this air purifier. Great programming features. Easy to set up. Very good at cleaning air. When my humidifier spouts "white dust" the Alen light turns red to alert me of particles in the air. Eventually the status light turned green and decided that that I would rather get rid of that humidifier. Final light is Blue  indicating no particles detected. So quiet when in the Blue zone. The only feature that could make this air purifier phenomenal would be wheels for easy transport.
