Great computer at a great price. Not happy with pre-loaded bloatware and Microsoft restrictive customization obstacles, but this i7 quadcore computer with 17.3" display is the best electronics deal I have seen in months. We bought 2 for our family!

Very Good Deal for very good machine

The machine is thinner, quieter, and runs cooler than my previous Acer. Windows 11 is difficult to maneuver  around in without instructions which are available ONLINE. In fact, it can only be used online. 
I like the newness and novelty and after learning how to use it(windows11 & the keyboard shortcuts) it becomes very EASY.
My only wish is press a button and switch between windows and apple OS.

I didn’t expect that fast seriously with 8gbram, what if I upgrade with max 20gb ram that would be speed of light lol! Hopefully it’s keep that way we will see next a few month if keep fast as today, I would update here.

A BARGAIN IN BOTH COST AND FUNCTION

Came with a power supply. It has 4 + 4GB of ram not a single 8GB stick. If you plan to upgrade to 16 GB you cannot just add an 8 GB stick. The SSD is good the intel graphics are acceptable. The nice part is this come with the ability to add a second drive, 2.5 in if needed.

Fonts too small

This ACER Aspire A517-52 Laptop checked all my boxes as far as all the commercially listed specifications, however, several disappointing things became known to me only after several hours of use. Because I was new to Windows 11 I joined a Microsoft community page and an Acer users group to learn more. 
This is only my third laptop PC ever. The last laptop I purchased from Sam's Club was a (small screen) ASUS brand, and it still works quite well. That smaller ASUS set some high standard minimum requirements for me, and now I'm realizing just what a great little performer it is. 
I bought this new ACER Aspire primarily because of its 17.3" screen size, it's competitive price, and it's other admiral medium range performance spec's. 
What I learned about this ACER I could never have known without using it first. The following items are highly contentious misgivings and points I cannot live with: 
1) It's lighted keyboard has an automatic timeout feature which cannot be overridden in any way, according to online ACER forums and confirmed by ACER. 
2) When the keyboard is lit, a very annoying string of light is emitted from each row of keys across the entire length of the keyboard from between the base of the keys and the flat board surface. This depends on the diagonal relationship of your seating position from your eyes to the keyboard itself. As you move your head towards and away from the screen, and if the room is dark, you're blinded by the lighting from below the keys. No one could ever see or predict that from looking at a store display. 
3) One of the USB 3.0 ports cannot be turned off (powered off) even when shutdown and unplugged. There is an Acer "Quick Access"  settings panel with a toggle setting which is supposed to control that USB port power, but it doesn't affect it in any manner whatsoever; the port remains powered no matter what---or until the battery is drained to 30% 20% or 10% power as selected.
The built-in speaker sound is very poor, but other than that it's a very decent laptop, and one I cannot live with because of the things I've described.

A very decent laptop, but one I cannot live with.

Bought this laptop, got it day before yesterday.  Opened box, and plugged in the charger.  Let it set for about four hours.  Fired it up and started the bootup process.  It went very well until all the updates downloaded.  It rebooted and froze with a message like:  Update suspended.  Please be sure both are met....AC adapter is plugged in AND battery is above 25 percent.  Well.....the AC adapter was plugged in, but really......no way to check the battery.  Called Acer Support and VERY nice lady talked me through the fix.  But, it did it a second time.  UGH.  Did the right thing and took it back to the nearest SamsClub for a refund.  But like the title to this review, I imediately ordered another one exactly like the first.  ANYTHING can go wrong/bad at any time.  I'll update this after the new unit comes in.....about a week from now.
