About this item

Product details

Flavor Profile

  • Aroma: Beautiful aromas of warm chocolate, roasted coffee and toasty cedar
  • Taste: Intense dark fruit and sweet vanilla combine with smoky-oak
  • Body: A long rich mouthfeel
  • Finish: Finishes with balanced acidity and moderate, velvety tannins

Harvest Notes

The 2023 growing season was cooler and wetter than recent years. Near-record rainfall filled soil profiles while a cooler spring and summer facilitated good vine growth but slowed berry and cluster development. The result was a later harvest. Fortunately, the autumn weather was warm and consistent which helped to fully mature berries. The result was a balanced crop with ripe fruit, high tannins and anthocyanins, all indicators of high quality

Vineyard Notes

This blend is a true Paso Robles blend as we sourced from vineyards within several Districts: San Juan Creek to the east, Estrella to the northeast, Geneseo in the center and Creston to the southeast of Paso Robles. All Districts boast great soil structures that have high concentrations of ancient seabed and are well-drained. Elevations range from 1,100 feet to 1,600 feet. Weather presents diurnal swings of 40 degrees or more every day of the year. During hotter months, cool afternoon maritime breezes make their way eastward from the coast to cool the vines overnight creating intensity in color and structure.

Winemaking Notes

After harvest, the different vineyard lots were fermented individually in stainless steel tanks for 10 to 14 days. Extended macerations and carefully managed pumpovers enhanced the extraction of color and tannin. The lots were aged separately for 10 months in a combination of 25 percent once and twice used French oak and 75 percent neutral French and American oak. The initial blend was assembled in early September of 2024 and aged for an additional four months in 26 percent new French oak. The wine was racked only twice during its cellar life, with the final racking occurring just prior to bottling.

About Treana

Treana is the sum of elements that influence our wines; the land that our family farms, the warm California sun that nurtures, and the cooling ocean breeze that balances. These elements combine to create the perfect growing conditions for our grapes.

  • Sea - The Pacific Ocean sends cooling breezes in the late afternoons, causing large diurnal temperature shifts and preserving natural acidity in the grapes
  • Sun - An abundance of sunshine during the growing season provides warmth and idyllic growing conditions for growing wine grapes
  • Soil - The Central Coast of California is home to some of the most unique and diverse soil types of any growing region in California

About Paso Robles

Paso Robles is the home to many dreamers and self-starters, those who have a spirit and the drive to create their own destiny. Paso Robles entices those individuals to be their best and create the best from the land and all that it produces. This wine is a tribute to those who believe in Paso Robles and all of its greatness, just like our winemakers.

Company History

Making the best wine the California Central Coast has to offer for over 30 years. The Hope family has been farming in Paso Robles for more than 30 years. When they arrived in this barely-discovered region, they planted apples and grapes. Little did they know that the rolling, oak-studded terrain of Paso Robles would one day become a viticultural terroir of significance and one of the top winegrowing regions for quality red wine within the Central Coast.

Today, the Hopes cultivate mature vineyards of the varieties best suited to their area including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Mourvedre and Grenache. Vine density has increased and each vine is asked to produce very little fruit. The terroir of this domain expresses itself in its unique regional character. Regardless of the varieties planted, the expression of Paso Robles is displayed in the glass with spice, licorice and berry in the nose, soft textures and silky tannins on the palate.

Sustainability

Hope Family Wines is committed to sustainable growing practices that promote vine health, improve wine quality, and ensure that growers remain profitable. Spraying is only done when necessary, not on a calendar, and never after August first. The number of tractor passes is kept to a minimum, protecting the integrity of the root structures and avoiding compacting the soil. Hope Family Wines works actively with the Central Coast Vineyard Team to promote best practices in the vineyards we work with. We also use the self-assessment tools put together by the Wine Institute and the California Association of Winegrape Growers to gauge progress and identify areas for improvement over time. This multipronged approach to growing, from winter pruning through fall harvest, ensures we use only the finest grapes for each of our labels.

Being SIP Certified

Our estate vineyards are SIP Certified ensuring we are focusing on preservation and protection of our natural and human resources. This year, we’ve stepped up on our sustainability focus by only sourcing grapes from winegrowers whose vineyards are SIP Certified. This way, our wines are not only made with purpose, but with a focus on People, Planet and Prosperity.

Chuck and Austin Hope believe that their stewardship of our estate vineyard reaches far beyond the vineyard rows to ensure the ecosystem thrives. They’ve created wildlife corridors so the native quail, deer and maybe a wild boar or two, can pass through the vineyard. Oak trees are protected. Our creek beds are alive with wildlife and native plants. Red Tail hawks nest here. California Quail coveys are year-round residents that grace the vineyard. The vineyard is alive with everything that defines Paso Robles!

Treana is now a staple in our wine cabinet

My wife and I decided to try this wine because we like another cabernet (Austin Hope) produced by this company. Treana is a little lighter, but really flavorful. We've enjoyed it with poultry, fish, and beef.
