I purchased the Swann Camera Security System about 1 month ago.  Had it installed and the system is working great.

We bought this for our work place.  Pictures are clear.  The police came by one day because there was a problem the night before.  They were asking all the local business who had camera.  When they saw ours, they said it was the best in the area.  No one had anything that came closed.

We got the Swann 8 Channel and the system wouldn't work and found out the program had a update and we were not notify of the problem. My husband had to call the company and they finally sent a update and it is working after a month.  Security is good now.

Survey of quality

bought this for my restaurant for extra security. Awesome product easy to install and use. Can check cameras anywhere from my phone. Gives me that extra piece of mind that small business owners need.

great camera system

The system was a great price (Black Friday deal) and the hardware is of very high quality. It was easy to install and amazingly simple to hook up to a cell phone and a PC through their applications.

The applications are awesome! It's so easy to skip to the places where "stuff happened" and see the deltas. I think the phone app is better than the PC app. I have had a couple of lock ups on the PC app. Very satisfied with the product though. The installation was a bit painful because of what was included with the kit.

I have no complaints about it except for the 8 cables that were included. 60 feet just does not cut it inside the attic. You can even have a small house, but if your DVR is in an area close to an extremity of the home, you will need more than 60 feet, guaranteed. And don't be fooled on your measurements. I thought 60 would do until I got to crawl up there. You have to go around stuff sometimes and there is no "straight line". My suggestion for the manufacturer would be to do 4 x 60 ft cables and 2 x 100 foot cables and 2 x 150 foot cables, just in case. Charge an extra few bucks and save time for thousands of customers. Otherwise people will have to go buy more cables to make it work and waste their collective time. For that I will have to knock off one star and give it 4, but it was close.

Summary: PROS: Good customer service, great quality video, easy to install and activate system, easy to hook to mobile devices while on site, and fantastic price. CONS: Customer service cannot fix problems with unit unless you are on site. Problems hooking up home pc and tablet remotely from 1,000 miles away and no way to attempt to fix the problem until we return to the property.

Details: The 1080P quality of the image is fantastic during the day and great at night. If you buy a system with less quality you will be disappointed. For the price, this is a good system. Connection to internet is easy for laptop and iPhone or Android. The only problem we experienced is trying to hook to our home pc. The property we are monitoring is 1,000 miles away and when we tried to connect it said we were using the wrong password. You can't change the password unless you are on the property which means we cannot attempt to figure out the problem until we return to the property. The cell phone and the laptop still work, but the tablet will no longer work and we cannot connect the home pc. Very frustrating because you need somebody on site at both locations to figure out the problem.

Customer service for Swann was easy to reach (which was amazing, Night Owl was a horrible experience), however customer service could not access the unit remotely except to wipe its memory out so that you could start over. To start over you have to be on site with the unit so all of this is a circular problem that may never get resolved. We can, however access live view and recorded events through the cell phone and laptop so we do have some remote access to the system, just not everything we had hoped for. We may eventually get resolved but it will take several months because we do not travel to the property that often.

Note: We were extremely happy with the system and would have given it 10 stars until we returned home and suddenly the password no longer worked.

Good quality low cost camera system

The cameras work fine. But the App associated with the app (Swann) is a joke. EVERYBODY who bought these cameras have said the exact same. Totally (and if mean totally) worthless product if you intend to look at your cameras remotely on an iPad or iPhone (Or even a computer). Y'all need to get a better app or stop advertising this as a system you can view off site. Pathetic

Why can't I rate it zero stars

I bought this system on a recommendation from a friend , but soon learned what a piece of junk it is . Swann customer service is terrible , cameras are cheap plastic ,
and the DVR (brand new) software was outdated .

DO NOT BUY THIS !!

I bought this at sams club last year, cameras are not of high quality as they say and then two of those cameras doesn't function at all, today this system stoped working and I have a business where I can't buy to have a system running 24 hours a day. No help free m support at all !!!??? As it's out of warranty .

stay away!!!!

First issue, instructions are wrong.  Told to go to a site to download Swann View Plus but that site did not exist.  Swann had to email new location.  Got the DVR set up with camera's and could view on Computer and iphone.  But could not send email alerts.  Called Swann and found out firmware was outdated.  They told me where to go to upload new firmware.  After loading firmware, SwannView plus would not work on computer or phone.  When you call technical support which I had to do three times, you end up on hold for a minimum of 45 minutes.  Decided to just take it back and get my money back.
