After purchasing tye large smoker I bought this one to take camping. It orks great! I am amazed at how well it keeps a strady temp. If tou want a portable smoker this is the one for you.

This smoker is pretty awesome, after using charcoal for a long time I don't think I'm going back, I set this smoker up in less than 10 minutes and up to temp in 5,  made a 16 pound smoked turkey at 250 in 4 hours, it is small but if you can manage small spaces you can make a lot of good food.

Quality better than expected...a pleasure to cook with.. glad I got it

I didn't want to rate this smoker poorly,I brought it back and bought the electric smoker instead.After using the digital electric smoker, VERY glad I did.

Gas Smoker

I purchased this a couple of weeks ago after thinking about it for a couple weeks.  I headed back to Sam's Club because I was worried about not getting one before they start clearance on summer items.  I couldn't be happier.  I read some the reviews, and I have smoked several items and had no problems controlling temp.  I closed the damper at the back and it maintained a steady 250 but I am sure if I opened the damper it would have reduced the temperature but I wanted a strong smoke flavor.  I did have a little difficulty with the electrical lighting and it would not stay lit but was ok finally lighting with a lighter.  Was amazingly easy to clean except for the chip tray but I continued to add lots of chips because I like it extra smokey.  Wish Masterbuilt.com would offer replacement trays but haven't tried to call them yet.  It is perfect because it is just for me and small items but I think you could fit a small turkey in there.  I only used a small gas tank and it lasted well over 5 hours, cooking on low so I am happy since a pork butt would take less than 2 tanks.

Awesome Smoker

Purchased one of these little honeys at the store and then read one of the reviews claiming "too hot" experience so I fired off an email to MasterBuilt and received a reply the same day. After being told there were no reports of lower temp problems I proceeded to smoke up some of the best Country Ribs and Baby Back Loin Ribs we've ever had. The first recipe called for 275 degrees and I had no problem holding a steady temp. The next recipe called for the more common temp of 225 and was a bit difficult getting the unit to settle in at 225 but once rolling it did a great job of holding the temp. Great unit, and perfect size for two person rib meals and love learning the art of smoking on the unit. Killer Hogs, so far, are our favorite rub and sauce choices but Billy Bones rub and Traders Joe Kansas City sauce are close seconds.

Temp just right

I bought this smoker two weeks ago.  First you have to use the pictures to assemble as there are no written instruction for assembly.  Had a hard time getting the temp down to 200/225 degrees.  Had to turn down the gas valve to low and close the vent.  The burner would not stay lit if a small breeze came by.  Design would have been better with an electric burner (no flame out).  Took it back a few days ago.

Good concept Poor design.

In any wind the fire actually goes out!   Heat source is poorly controlled.  No insulation and construction is poor, so it will not hold a specific heat within 15-30 degrees.  No good for smoking anything.

If you really want to smoke, I recommend use a grill with a smoker box, or better yet use an electric smoker, but NOT THIS ONE TYPE because of poor construction and no insulation.
