About this item

Product details

Enchanting Clematis Vines

Admired for their breathtaking flowers, Clematis vines are often referred to as the "Queen of the Climbers". These plants are easily trained to grow on trellises and fences, or to arch gracefully over doorways. When used alone, they create a major focal impact, adding a touch of elegance and beauty to any garden. Clematis are also excellent for attracting pollinators and are perennial, returning to grace your garden year after year.

Clematis Soil Prep Instructions

The ideal soil for Clematis vines is porous and drains well, yet retains enough water for the roots. If your soil is heavy clay and drains slowly, or very sandy and does not hold water, consider adding organic soil amendments such as peat moss or ground bark. A 3-4" layer of soil amendment, combined with fertilizer, should be incorporated into the soil to a depth of 10".

Planting Instructions

Start by digging a hole and placing the root(s) at the recommended depth and spacing. Cover with soil. If you're planting a large quantity of roots in one bed, excavate the entire area to the recommended depth, work fertilizer into the bottom of the trench, place the plants, and then cover the roots all at once. Water thoroughly at planting.

Care and Maintenance

While the Clematis vines are actively growing, they require frequent and thorough watering so that the water reaches the roots. Mulching is recommended to keep the soil cool and to prevent it from drying out. For optimal growth and flowering, apply fertilizer before and after the flowering period.

Do not buy

I should’ve paid heed to all the reviews. There were only two roots in the bag, and one of them was dried up. Very disappointing, ended up returning

pretty sure they were dead

All 3 were dried out. I planted them in a pot hoping they would revive. So far there's no growth.
