Inferno Patio Heater

Our Inferno patio heater, used in hotels and resorts, is also ideal in your outdoor living area or deck in chilly weather. With up to 51,000 BTU heat output and adjustable heat settings, it heats up an area&nbsp;up&nbsp;to&nbsp;20' x 20'. The cylindrical Pyrex glass column creates a stunning 360-degree visual effect. The central flame and cylindrical design deliver&nbsp;even heat, while a protective screen prevents contact with heat cylinder. A reflector on top will efficiently keep the radiant heat down. Other features include a tilt switch for automatic shut-off, 100% gas shut-off if flame extinguishes, a quick-start push button electronic igniter and a retractable design for convenient storage as well as wheels for easy moving.

This is a very nice heater at a good price.......But beware. I have a feeling that the entire batch of these at Sams Club are damaged.  I sent the first back and decided to self-repair the second.  You will not notice any damage on the box it arrives in, but both of the heaters shipped to me had obviously been smashed before boxing....the top cap of the heater is seriously bent down on the three sides not supported by pillars.

Nice but BEWARE damage

It was the visual effect that sucked me in on this and I guess that's a good thing because it delivers more aesthetic appeal than actual heat.  Do not expect to heat a 20' x 20' area as advertised.  After an hour of being on high, no radiant heat could be felt at 10' feet from the base and was barely perceptible at a 3' distance.  Decent heat could be felt closer to the top at the edge of the reflector cap when we put our hands up to warm them.  In all fairness, we tested this on a 33 degree day with just a slight wind on a patio which is exposed on all sides.  I'm really hoping to get better performance in milder temps, but I had also hoped this would be the answer to chasing away the chill for winter hot tub use, and am disappointed that I still have to find something else to augment the heat.

Shipping was not kind to my unit and it arrived with dents in both the base and the reflector cap that are cosmetic and won't affect the performance...but that does not negate the fact that it was damaged, nonetheless.  Assembly is extremely tedious, as the directions are vague at best.  Fortunately, my husband is mechanically gifted.  Still, it took about 3 hours to unpack and correctly assemble the unit. 

We considered sending this back and starting over, but the thought of trying to disassemble, repack, and ship this behemoth for return was pretty daunting.  So, we decided to focus on the positives.  We got it for a great price on Black Friday, and it is a truly stunning visual centerpiece that goes great with our patio decor.

Mixed feelings about this one...

Two of the four pierces that hold the glass up are broken and will need to be rewelded on, also there's a late piece of plastic inside glove that is burning and making glass black. Sams doesn't send box to send back we have to figure t or ourselves.also doesn't give any heat out further than 3 or 4 feet.
