Flavor Profile

Our master brewers started from zero and spent years exploring, brewing, and tasting before they finally created a recipe defined by its refreshing fruity notes and soft malty body. Heineken 0.0 is not only delicious, but it’s fully deserving of the Heineken mark. Heineken® 0.0% tastes different to regular Heineken®. It has the same characteristic fruity notes, but with a soft malty body. In Heineken® 0.0 we use the same quality ingredients in regular Heineken® (Water, malted barley, hop extracts and A-yeast) complemented with a natural flavor. We gently remove the alcohol with vacuum distillation and blend the brew to perfection with natural flavorings.

Occasions

Heineken 0.0 is the official brew of endless possibilities. Whether at the gym, in the office or relaxing at home, being 100% alcohol-free means you can enjoy a brew whenever and wherever refreshment calls. And at only 69 calories, Heineken 0.0 is truly a Heineken without limits.

Ingredients

Our Heineken lager contains three main ingredients: malted barley, hop extract and water. When our Heineken A-Yeast is added, this is when Heineken magically transforms into the brew we all know and love. It all starts with barley. A grain bursting with goodness, containing starch, protein and fiber. After soaking, the barley is gently heated to dry out over the course of a few days. This meticulous process is called malting. Hops is a plant brimming with flavor. There are many varieties of hops, each with a distinctive flavor, from spicy aromas to mild herbal flavors. Selecting the right crop is an art form in itself. Water is the main ingredient in lager, it can make up an incredible 95% of the finished product. We discovered the special Heineken A-Yeast in the 19th century. Ever since, it has been the key to Heineken's characteristic balanced taste. Water is mixed with the crushed, malted barley. This creates wort, a sweet sugary liquid, which is then boiled. Then hop extract is added to enhance the flavor. We take 28 days to brew Heineken. To get the perfectly balanced taste, refreshing clarity and beautiful golden-yellow color.

Storage

The best way to store your Heineken beer is in a cool, dry place out of direct light and heat. Of course, if you’re ready to enjoy it straight away, chill it in the fridge until it’s cooled to around 41°F. Beer is a perishable product so it has a limited storage life. Check the best before date on your Heineken Original beer to make sure you’re enjoying fresh, quality beer. Serve cold between 35 degrees F and 40 degrees F.

History

In 1864 Gerard Adriaan Heineken bought brewery ‘De Hooiberg’ (The Haystack) in Amsterdam and immediately turns his focus towards brewing uncompromised premium lager beer. He embraces the latest brewing innovations and becomes the first brewer on the planet to introduce a quality control lab. Then in 1873, Gerard Heineken started his small family brewery in the city center of Amsterdam. Heineken won the Medal D’Or at the International Maritime Exhibition in 1875. Soon after that the Dutch beer company became the largest exporter to France. And in 1889 Heineken's new, refreshing pilsner won the prestigious Grand Prix at the Paris Expo. One year later Heineken started supplying the restaurant at the Eiffel Tower. Then in 1933 Heineken became the 1st import beer available in the USA, after 11 years of prohibition. Wherever you go in the world, it’s always refreshing to see something you recognize. That green bottle, the red star, the smiling ‘e’… like an instant welcome from an old friend. Cold, fresh, high-quality Heineken. Enjoyed near and far since 1873.

Sustainability

In 1963 the world bottle (WOBO) was designed that allowed the bottle to be reused as a brick for building houses which could’ve resulted in less litter and efficient up-cycling of materials. Technical hurdles after the first trial production in 1965, prevented the concept from being implemented. This initiative is just one of many though. As a worldwide known brand that is served in 192 countries, Heineken takes responsibility and aims to be sustainable in everything we do. By protecting water resources, reducing CO2 emissions, sourcing sustainably and advocating responsible consumption, we are 'brewing a better world'.

Heineken is brewed from premium malted barley with 67% of all the barley and 97% of hops comes from sustainable sources, and in France we’re already at 100%. The barley grains that are left over after brewing beer, are not wasted. It’s used to feed cattle; they love it. At our Den Bosch (NL) brew house, we opened in 2019 the world’s largest solar panel park on the site of a brewery. In Austria we now have 2 breweries working on 100% renewable energy. We minimize the amount of material we use, and all our carton packs are FSC certified “green”. Glass (bottles 57% recycled glass) and aluminum (cans 48% recycled aluminum). In Brazil our cans are already made out of more than 95% recycled aluminum.

alcoholic friendly

A recovered alcoholic that always loved the taste of beer, this was a delightful discovery. did not trigger my urge to drink and i got to enjoy the taste of a cold crisp beer. the only downside is its very expensive. btw if you drink a few of these they will make you sleepy.

Bottoms Up

Heineken non-alcoholic is a great beer. I originally started drinking non-alcoholic brews so it looked like I had an adult beverage at the table in the restaurant with the rest of the crew....but without any of the negatives effects! I have tried several other non-alcoholic beers but nothing beats Heineken's price or taste. Cheers!

zero difference or close as it gets!

This is as close to the real thing I have found. It surpasses the other na beers when duplicating their original brew.
