Without knowing all the variables in environments, situations and driving styles of each reviewer, including myself, it may not be a good idea to assume you will have the same experience with this tire that reviewers have had. That said, here's my take on these tires. Many say this tire has terrible tread life. I just swapped out a set of 215 65 16 4x4's at 53800, and they could have gone a few thousand miles more. Noise depends on road surface. On a new smooth road, these tires a completely quiet. On older roads, their hum can be about as noisy as the wind around the side rear view mirror, but still quieter than the XC 70's engine when it's revving before a gear change. They handle very well around corners. They are very capable at high speeds on dry roads. Snow has never been a problem, although I have never pushed them through more than two inches. If you want a tire to protect you from black ice though, you should probably go with a winter tire. Because I wanted to stick to Volvo's recommended tires, I had a choice between these 4X4's, the Bridgestone Deulers, and the Pirelli Four Seasons. While the Deulers might have proved to be quieter, some reviewers indicated they were a bit squishy. Several reviewers said the Pirellis got noisy later on, and a friend of mine with an XC70 said he had tried the Pirellis and "they never tracked right," so while even Tire Rack's video of the Pirellis said they handle extremely well, I didn't want to sacrifice the low noise of the 4X4's for possibly better handling. My conclusion is that these tires are underrated. I've given them straight "10's" to offset all the low numbers they've received from other reviewers. They really might not be as quiet as the Bridgestones, and the might not handle as well as the Pirellis, but since I had them on my XC70 for quite a while and was used to them, I didn't want to risk being disappointed by the Deulers or the Four Seasons.

Underrated

Continental Tire

Have continental tires on my Past and present Volvo XC90 which weighs over 5 thousand pounds and eats tires.but Continentals have given me the Wear and handling I need in Ct. Summers and Winters. Also on my Forrester, and daughters cars also. Good tires are not cheap but I get the mileage and wear you expect from them. I'm 64 and been working on cars 50 years. I know a good product when I get one.

Steady supporter

We have a Grand Cherokee Limited that did well with the stock tires but felt a little slippery when stopping on hard pack snow and ice. Our daughter had bought these tires for her Jeep and said it made a night and day difference in winter driving so on her recommendation we purchased a set. She was right! Hard pack snow, deep snow, solid ice, no problem. Best of all the tires are quiet, smooth riding and yet corner well. We have only put 8,000 miles on ours but our daughter has 28,000 on hers and they are wearing very well. I highly recommend these tires!!

Love these tires!

Tires provide good traction in mud and snow. Feels great to go duck hunting in the mud and sling in snow coverd mountains

Quite on pavement

I have a Suburban and put the Cross Contacts on it and WOW what a difference in stability and sound. Since I loved these so much I put the Pure Contact on her car. I swapped out my daughters Murano to the Cross Contact and feel so much better. So far I am driving at 40K on the Suburban and can get another 30 out of the

I am switching all my vehicles to Continental Tire

I have had this tire on a new 2014 GLK 350 4-matic it was OEM on this car. The car is rated at 302 hp. and my driving style wore these out at 46K miles. That is a decent lifespan for an all wheel drive, medium heavy, performance SUV. There are many tires that will live longer but I think that I got my moneys worth from this tire. I would buy them again. They really perform well. I think the road noise was low when new but it did increase as the tires wore. So for me, I wish they had longer tread life but I wouldn't want to sacrifice grip for more mileage. I do wish they were more quiet after they started to wear. These are good tires!

This is a good tire.

These were standard on my GLK350. That set lasted 45,000 miles. Happy with performance and low noise level, and at the recommendation of MB service put another set on. At less than 20,000 miles two are showing significant wear, enough that MB recommended replacement. Had alignment and suspension checked; no problems. Don't quite understand at this point, but not buying another set.

Inconsistant treadwear

Bought these for my Lexus rx350 at 92,605 Miles. Rated at 90,000 miles. Rotate religiously at 5000 miles. At 115,554 milesabout 23,000 miles driven they are now at 6/32 which means they are not good in my snow country as per the mechanics at Dunn's tire. Continental didn't want to credit me for a replacement at this time. I just hope I make it through the winter ok. Will probably not buy these ones again.

Tires good on wet roads with rain but..,

Not only is the traction less than satisfactory, but my experience with Continental as a company is very poor. It was a nightmare trying to register for a promotional rebate and ultimately could not . For that reason, I would never consider Continental tires again.

Continental doesn't care about customers

I have these tires on my nissan rogue select 2015. After 27K miles all 4 tires need replacement. Not happy with these tires and wouldn't recommend to any one.
