Near-record rainfall filled soil profiles while a cooler spring and summer facilitated good vine growth but slowed berry and cluster development. The result was a later harvest. Fortunately, the autumn weather was warm and consistent which helped to fully mature berries. The result was a balanced crop with ripe fruit, high tannins and anthocyanins, all indicators of high quality.</p> <h3>Vineyard Notes</h3> <p>We source our Paso Robles Chardonnay from three districts within the AVA: The San Juan Creek district with loamy soils and warm summer weather. The key here for quality Chardonnay is canopy management throughout the growing season. To avoid over exposure of fruit that can potential cause adverse phenolics, we ensure the clusters are shaded and allowed to fully ripen. The second district we source from is Creston. While warm during summer, this vineyard cools from early afternoon breezes, allowing the vines and clusters to mature slowly that helps with flavor and mouthfeel. The third district we source from is Pomar. Situated just east of the Templeton Gap, this vineyard gets plenty of cooling, maritime influence during the growing season. Soils here are well-integrated with calcareous matter, assisting in less water use and balanced vines. All vineyards we source are Certified Sustainable.</p> <h3>Winemaking Notes</h3> <p>After harvesting, Chardonnay grapes were whole cluster pressed into stainless steel tanks for cold settling at 30 degrees. The juice was then racked off the heavy lees into French oak barrels (26%) and stainless-steel tanks (74%) for fermentation. The barrel fermented portion saw eight months of sur lie aging and the barrels were stirred monthly during the first three months to enhance the creamy nature of the wine. The blend was assembled in June of 2024, then heat and cold stabilized in stainless steel tanks before bottling in September of 2024.</p> <h3>About Paso Robles</h3> <p>Paso Robles is the home to many dreamers and self-starters, those who have a spirit and the drive to create their own destiny. Paso Robles entices those individuals to be their best and create the best from the land and all that it produces. This wine is a tribute to those who believe in Paso Robles and all of its greatness, just like our winemakers.</p> <h3>Company History</h3> <p>Making the best wine the California Central Coast has to offer for over 30 years. The Hope family has been farming in Paso Robles for more than 30 years. When they arrived in this barely-discovered region, they planted apples and grapes. Little did they know that the rolling, oak-studded terrain of Paso Robles would one day become a viticultural terroir of significance and one of the top winegrowing regions for quality red wine within the Central Coast.</p> <p>Today, the Hopes cultivate mature vineyards of the varieties best suited to their area including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Mourvedre and Grenache. Vine density has increased and each vine is asked to produce very little fruit. The terroir of this domain expresses itself in its unique regional character. Regardless of the varieties planted, the expression of Paso Robles is displayed in the glass with spice, licorice and berry in the nose, soft textures and silky tannins on the palate.</p> <h3>Sustainability</h3> <p>Hope Family Wines is committed to sustainable growing practices that promote vine health, improve wine quality, and ensure that growers remain profitable. Spraying is only done when necessary, not on a calendar, and never after August first. The number of tractor passes is kept to a minimum, protecting the integrity of the root structures and avoiding compacting the soil. Hope Family Wines works actively with the Central Coast Vineyard Team to promote best practices in the vineyards we work with. We also use the self-assessment tools put together by the Wine Institute and the California Association of Winegrape Growers to gauge progress and identify areas for improvement over time. This multipronged approach to growing, from winter pruning through fall harvest, ensures we use only the finest grapes for each of our labels.</p> <h3>Being SIP Certified</h3> <p>Our estate vineyards are SIP Certified ensuring we are focusing on preservation and protection of our natural and human resources. This year, we’ve stepped up on our sustainability focus by only sourcing grapes from winegrowers whose vineyards are SIP Certified. This way, our wines are not only made with purpose, but with a focus on People, Planet and Prosperity.</p> <p>Chuck and Austin Hope believe that their stewardship of our estate vineyard reaches far beyond the vineyard rows to ensure the ecosystem thrives. They’ve created wildlife corridors so the native quail, deer and maybe a wild boar or two, can pass through the vineyard. Oak trees are protected. Our creek beds are alive with wildlife and native plants. Red Tail hawks nest here. California Quail coveys are year-round residents that grace the vineyard. The vineyard is alive with everything that defines Paso Robles!</p>

This is my go to Chardonnay. It pairs perfectly with great music playing while I'm cooking up a new recipe, but just as easily pairs with settling in to binge a favorite series. I like mine extra cold, so I pour it into a frozen stemless wine glass and I'm good to go. Easy to drink, no overpowering aftertaste, consistently just yum!

It was smooth and crispy and had a fruity taste (but not too fruity). I’m bit selective when it comes to white wine and I can say this is a well balanced and tasty wine at an affordable price.

It is light, relatively dry which I prefer, and has juicy fruity notes that tasted great with my pasta meal. The price is on point and I would definitely get this wine again. I love the smell and the taste of this one. I know the label should not matter but to me it does and I love how simple and modern it is. 

I loved drinking this with my friends last weekend. We paired it with some fruit and an assortment of cheeses. It really was a hit.

Perfect Wine

Served this to family with dessert after a shared meal. Very fruity and a little bit sweet,  and paired very well with that course. Would also be good as a balance to spicy foods like a Thai seafood dish. Don’t be scared, this is not severely oaked like some other California Chardonnay. ￼

I love that it was smooth, crisp, and light, and did not have a dry burning aftertaste.￼ I tasted citrus and oak flavors and paired it with a salmon dinner. I do wish it had a cork rather than a twist off top to showcase its sophistication being that it wasn’t a super cheap wine. Regardless, it was a great Chardonnay that I enjoyed drinking.
