You only need to refrigerate it AFTER you soak it in water & rehydrate the meat.  There's no flavour to it for seasoning - it tastes just like unseasoned beef.  The chunks are tiny, which works great when you're making soups, etc.  I toss some into broth for a quick lunch to get some protein in there.  I personally hate the taste of plain meat, so I always soak it in a liquid that's flavoured instead of plain water.  A little bit goes a LONG way with this.  The chunks don't expand a whole lot, but I only add about 1.5 Tbs to my broth, or 3-4 Tbs if I'm cooking for dinner.  Tiny but still filling.  It would be 5 stars, but the meat is likely from the 'pot roast' section of beef, as I get bits with gristle or all fat in them.  Have to pick those out, so lowered by 1 star.

Very handy to have around.

I do intend to give this product a try. But the initial description can be misleading. It says " No refrigeration required" .. but it SHOULD say.. refrigeration required AFTER opening. Because in the pdf of the product it does say it needs refrigerated after opening. ( Many meat products do ).
I've been using AF products for a while and like them just fine. But you do need to be sure you read all the directions and pdfs. Some things need more than just water etc.. Just be informed. :-)

Have not tried it yet for taste but its so small .The picture is bigger than the product .
