I bought these tires several months ago at Sam's Club, so I can't comment on tread life but can say that my set of tires are smooth, comfortable and improved gas mileage on my 2011 F-150 4x4 Crewcab.  So far, these Michelin's are an improvement over my previous Firestone Destination A/T tires. I was looking to purchase the Michelin Defender LTX because of the better reviews, but were not available. I took a chance, on these even though they had negative reviews, but so far I'm pleased.

Excellent to date

Even though the tire comes in the exact size, speed rating, and load index as the original equipment tires on our car, Michelin doesn't think it fits, but I bought it anyway, and after 1000 miles, it's exceeded expectations. I do know this is basically the same tire as Defender LTX M/S, also not recommended for my vehicle, but reading some reviews for that tire, I was concerned about tire noise, ride, and wet traction. So it's a relief that the tires are quiet, and while slightly firmer than a touring tire, they're by no means uncomfortable, and I've only driven it once on a rainy day, but traction seemed fine. Another concern was that each tire is about 3 pounds heavier than the original tires, so I expected some loss of fuel economy, but it's only 1 MPG less than the previous tires, which were worn almost down to the wear bars, so would have less rolling resistance than new tires. Finally, I've taken it on a rough, unimproved road, after breaking it in for 500 miles, and it handled that perfectly as well. Overall, I can't be more pleased, and recommend it to owners of Outbacks with the 225/65r17 tires, who want to occasionally drive off the pavement and not worry about sidewall damage driving on a street tire.

As I was driving away form the tire center I thought i was in the wrong car, this is by far the best tire I've ever had.
my SUV feels new again. this tire minimizes vibration from the road, bumps ect...up to the passengers.

Most comfortable tire I've ever ridden on!

500 miles in, feel better than new. Many late nights researching and reading reviews led me to these. My ego kept looking for "aggressive looking" all terrains for my pickup but fortunately maturity won. Economy is very important for a new father but even more so is reliable safety. Comfort, noise level, performance and durability make these the right tire for mature consumers. My American made F150 deserves to ride on top shelf American tires.

I bought the set of tires for my older SUV.  I can't believe what a difference these tires made on the ride.  Just finished a 500 mile trip and it made our SUV feel like a new vehicle. Very nice riding tire.

Very Smooth Riding Tire

Only had these tires a few days but the very reason I bought them was for the rain (Washington) and I got the chance to put them to the test. A few days before I purchased these tires I did not feel safe on the rain and the tires I replaced were not severally worn.  The stability and performance doing the rain was amazing never felt safer with the purchase of these Michelin tires.

The promise delivered!

Bought these tires because they were Michelin that's all that I buy for all my vehicles. Replaced my SUV tires Lincoln Aviator and was very disappointed  of these tires good grip overall Michelin but the noise was not like anything I ever heard. Had them about 3 to 4 months and very unsatisfied.  Very loud on the road

My review 1

The tire has weaker sidewalls than other Michelin tires I've had so I need to run them at 40 PSI to take away the sidewall sag and stop the body roll.  I also replaced a set of Michelin X radial LT2 that was falling apart after 48,000 miles and Sams from Alexandria La. didn't want to do it because they were 4 1/2 years old.  The tires had a 6 year warranty but they really didn't care.  The tire manager said I would have to deal directly with Michelin at this point.  So a Michelin retailer is refusing to honor the warranty because it is past the Sams Club road hazard. Finally after talking to the manager and telling them they had a 6 year warranty they gave me a 20% pro rating but wouldn't give me my original receipt from my new tires just a redacted photo copy that didn't have the road hazard on it.

Weak sidewalls and body roll.

I bought these a few years ago and I’m sorry to say that they have worn much faster than advertised. They are somewhat loud on the highway but that is certainly not a dealbreaker. I’ve always been a big fan of Michelin tires but this set was disappointing. I’m ready for a new set of tires and I only have 46,000 miles on what’s supposed to be a 70,000 mile tire.

Great company, disappointing tire

These tires proved to be a disappointment. I experienced what is best described as a jittery ride that would show up from 35 mph to 80 mph. It proved not to be a balancing issue after being re-balanced and checked for out-of-roundness and inspected for side run out. To further understand this issue, my previous tires were Michelin X LTS A/S tires that had performed flawlessly for 60K miles. Also, this vehicle, (2004 Dodge Ram 1500) had the front suspension completely rebuilt, new brakes with rotors, and new shocks prior to changing tires. Also, I had a front end realignment. I exchanged these tires before my first 30 days expired to a set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S Plus. My smooth ride was instantly restored, these tires are very quiet, and my gas mileage 
was slightly improved. These tires were selected after checking with Consumer Reports ratings on-line. The staff at my local Sam's Club was very supportive through out this process, (especially Tim) and gave me confidence that I could rely on Sam's Club when I experienced a problem.
