Very happy with this unit. It replaced a 70 pint unit (different brand) that went on recall. This unit is amazing for our 1700 sf basement. We don't have a ton of moisture, but even so this unit works like a champ. I love the fact that intake is the front (my other was on the back so you really didn't want to put it up against a wall), and the fan blows out the top - provides a natural circular motion/movement of the room's air. We have it on direct drain so I can't comment on the bucket. The only downside is the filter is located inside above the bucket, therefore bucket removal to access the filter for cleaning. But, that's not a big deal since that only happens occasionally. Satisfied customer.

Bought this product two weeks ago and it made a huge difference in the air quality immediately! My daughter moved into an above ground basement apartment which didn't seem damp to us. The next day after setting the unit up, we realized just how damp the apartment really was. It made a HUGE difference. It was also recommended by an exterminator that we invest in a dehumidifier to drastically reduce the amount of bugs she was seeing. The unit worked for that as well.

It is also quiet, has great features like the auto shut off when it's full, and since it has an "Energy Star" rating, I can't wait to see if there is a big difference in the utility bill.

Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. BTW, this is not a review secretly done by the manufacturer or Walmart. I am a very real person who is 100% pleased (so far -- only two weeks) with the performance of this unit.

Was using like a 10 year old, 40 pint square metal dehumidifier that rattled and never got the unfinished basement (around 1300 square feet) below 75%. We live in a very damp area also. This one (50 pint) is now set for 60% and is running on the low fan speed and my cheap humidity gauge says it's 58% in the basement. It sits about 20' away and seems quiet enough to me. From the specs, it would appear it uses 4.3 amps versus the old one using 7+. Basically half price electricity and since the unit will run 24/7 during the summer, that could be significant savings. Ours uses a garden hose draining into the sump pump well. Straightforward connection right out of the box.

a nice quiet dehumidifier

This is the third dehumidifier we've purchased within the past 9 years. The first 2 were GE products--the first of which was defective and the second was recalled, although we had no problems with it. So we took our refund check and after doing our on-line research, we decided to purchase the Frigidaire, and have been very pleased. We spend a lot of our time in our basement "family room" and found that this dehumidifier eliminates the extra moisture very quickly and does not make any distracting noise. We appreciate the larger capacity tank as we don't have to empty it as often as the smaller GE dehumidifier. It's easy to program--didn't have to consult our "techy" grandchildren to figure it out. We've only been using it for the past 2 weeks, but so far we're very satisfied with the performance and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good value for their money.

Great product.

This works perfectly. My apartment was was extremely humid until I got this. After 2 days of de-humidifying the atmosphere in my apartment has completely changed. It turns itself on only once in a while now for short periods of time when the humidity rises. I recommend setting it for 60% - seems to be perfect.

Caution: When I first turned it on I set it to "factory" setting which just runs 24/7 (says to do this in the directions for the first time you set it up). I left it in that mode too long and my apartment got WAY too dry. It felt like my skin was drying up, and was very uncomfortable. I turned it off for a day or two and let my apartment settle back to a more humid environment. I know have it turned on and set to 60%, and it works wonderfully. I recommend only using the "factory" setting until you have to empty it out one time. Then set it for 60%. It was worse being too dry than too humid, so better to slowly de-humidify instead of sucking up all the moisture all at once - it was almost unbearable when too dry.

Excellent. Does exactly what I needed!

I've had it for over a month and am completely satisfied. I bought this dehumidifier from Walmart to replace a 6-yr old 25-pint Frigidaire that ran but quit dehumidifying. I searched the various review sites on the internet, and it appeared that Frigidaire was one of the most reliable. This new 50-pint is only a little heavier than my old 25-pint one. The new one is much quieter than the old one. I set the fan speed for Low, which just creates a gentle breeze in the basement and is very quiet for a running fan. It's hard to tell whether the compressor is running or not because it hardly adds any noise. I run mine in automatic mode at a humidity setting of 45%. The fan does run continuously and does not turn off when the humidity reaches 45%. (That's the same way my window air conditioners work.) Site-to-store worked great. Even though I could get free shipping to my home, I didn't want it getting tossed around by a package delivery service.

Works great!

This unit is small enough not to get in the way, as attractive as dehumidifiers get, extremely effective and easy to use. It's hard to roll on the rollers without it tipping over (at least for me, and granted, I'm not very coordinated and was rolling it on thick carpet) so I'd recommend rolling it empty. It took the first basement room I put it in from 69% humidity to 49% in a day --- according to the indoor/outdoor thermometer thing we have set up down there. It's controlling the humidity in a fairly large space filled with furniture and totes very well, from day 1. An added benefit is that it wasn't included in that massive recall that was announced a few days after we got it! I researched dehumidifiers thoroughly before purchasing, considering all the aspects. The reviews did say that it was noisy, but there are 2 speeds and if you need to be in the area, running it on Low greatly reduces that problem. And, it's white noise, not like it's clanking or whistling!

It works even better than we'd hoped!

Have had this product for 2 weeks, so far it works fine. Easy to set up. Does not come with a hose for the automatic emptying, so while it does work out of the box, to use it to its' fullest potential you have to buy the hose.

The collecting bucket is hard to empty. These things should be made with a pour spout. It is messy to empty, so pouring the water into a large laundry tub is best.

We're happy with the function. Basement does not have a musty damp odor. Hope that we will have it for several years like the last one.

Have to commend Wal-Mart for the ease of the purchasing and delivery service. Ordered online, could check out as a guest (don't have to set up an account). Less than 24 hours later delivered to the door. Great experience and will do it again.

Gets the job done

When the product was first hooked up right out of the box,it did not work. This was on a Saturday so I called the manufacturer, and they said that someone would be calling me back on Monday or Tuesday. They did call, and stated that they would be sending out a form to fill out for the reimbursement as they do not want the product returned, nor do they have any in stock to send to me and the store does NOT carry this product in the store. When I received the letter for the product, It requested the original bill for it, which my wife had already discarded the packing slip with the box, and the original UPC code as well, which had also been thrown out with the box. I would think that the person that I had originally talked to the day that I took it out of the box would have let me know this before the box was discarded, but no I FIND OUT THE HARD WAY! And now the information that was required for the reimbursement was inadvertently thrown away by my wife who did not know that we needed it. I realize this is not your problem, but what can I do now to be reimbursed for the defective equipment? The only thing that I can think of is the serial numbers sticker off of the product as well as copy of my Walmart Credit statement depicting the item. I am NOT a satisfied customer at this time!

The product did not work

Bought the same dehumidifier after first one died in two years.  The second one last only one year and 7 months.  Fortunately I bought the extended warranty for the second one.  I am buying another one with different brand with 4 years extended warranty this time.
