    What are some technological benefits a Plasma TV provides?

    Plasma televisions enable the display of HDTV, DTV, XGA, SVGA, and computer UWXGA signals. They have higher resolutions than most other televisions, enabling a premier viewing experience. Plasma screens host no scan lines (unlike conventional CRTs) because each pixel cell has its own transistor electrode, allowing for an evenly-lit image spanning the screen in its entirety. In addition, some plasma tv models have built-in line doubling that improves image quality associated with low-resolution analog video signals.

    Due to associated technology and digital video processing, some plasma TVs host the ability to transmit billions of colors! The transmitted picture is very vivid and almost three dimensional.

    Plasma televisions have screens that are flat (with no curvature whatsoever). This eradicates edge distortion and promotes viewing pleasure from multiple angles. Further, plasma television technology allows for a uniform brightness throughout the screen because all pixels are evenly illuminated.

    One of the most unique features of plasma TVs is their compact design. Sam's Club offers many television mounts to complement your plasma television purchase.     Nearly all plasma televisions accept standard video signals with the aid of their composite video and s-video inputs, in addition to their higher-quality video terminals. Most models also offer HDMI and DVI inputs. In addition, some models include a VGA or DVI PC input, which would enable a plasma monitor to become a computer screen.

    Plasma televisions are immune to magnetic fields coming from loudspeakers because plasmas do not use electron beams.

    Plasma TV screen size options.

    As with all televisions, plasma TVs are measured diagonally across the screen to result in designated picture sizes. Typical screen sizes are 37", 42", 50", 58", 60", and 65". With technology constantly advancing, it may not be a long time before plasma televisions are also offered in larger sizes.

    Regarding room situation, allow for some space between your plasma television and ceilings and side walls to allow heat to escape, facilitating ventilation. In addition, if your particular model does not have associated speakers, you may want to allow additional spacing on the side for supplemented speakers.

    Plasma television viewing distances.

    Audio/visual experts provide suggestions regarding how far a person should sit from their plasma TV to facilitate optimal viewing pleasure. We provide the following as reference:

    - Sit 6-10 feet away from a 37" screen

    - Sit 8-12 feet away from a 42" screen

    - Sit 10-14 feet away from a 50" screen

    - Sit at least 14 feet away from a 60-65" screen

    Plasma televisions are situated with a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio (this was implemented to emulate the human eye's natural field of vision). This aspect ratio is also chosen for HDTV viewing (whether broadcasted through a station's natural air waves, digital, or satellite). Look for a plasma television which will scale images appropriately depending on the nature of the incoming signal (standard signals come in at a 4:3 ratio). Some manufacturer models compensate for lesser ratios by enabling the plasma to stretch, enlarge, or crop images. The “scaling" technique allows for stretching to exist at the outer edges of the screen, to facilitate optimal viewing pleasure. Depending on particular plasma television models, the “scaling" may not be noticeable at all.
