About this item

What is Essenhaus?

In 1971 Das Dutchman Essenhaus opened as an Amish-style restaurant in Middlebury, Indiana and is now the largest family-owned restaurant in the state. In addition to the restaurant, the campus is also home to a bakery, Inn & Conference Center, Heritage Hall, and several unique gift shops. Essenhaus products are prepared the old-fashioned way, using genuine Amish recipes passed down through the generations. From our Amish Country Kitchen to your table, we are pleased to offer the same time-honored recipes we have proudly served for 50 years.

Amish Noodles – how they’re made

Our Amish Egg Noodles are prepared the same way Grandma made them. We mix flour, eggs, and water into a rich dough; then we roll it into a sheet. The sheet is cut, dried, and packaged. This process creates a superior noodle when compared to extruded brands. Essenhaus noodles are stronger, heartier, and hold flavor better than any other noodle in stores. We stand by our products and the same noodle on the shelf is what we use in our own Amish Country Kitchen.

What can you make with Amish Noodles?

In short, anything! Essenhaus Amish Egg Noodles can be used in any dish you would normally make with pasta. Our noodles go especially well with soups, where they can soak up that delicious broth flavor. You can add these noodles to meat dishes such as a beef stroganoff or use them to enhance a side dish such as chicken gravy.
