What brands of diapers and training pants does Sam’s Club carry?

Sams Club carries the top brands of disposable pants in a wide range of sizes and styles. You will have no problem finding your favorite Huggies or Pampers for your child.

How do I know what size or style will be best for my child?

If you choose disposable diapers, which most people do, you will need to know what size of diaper to buy for your baby. Some diapers come in sizes newborn through 6, while others are sold as small, medium, large and extra large. The diaper box should recommend a size related to your baby’s age and weight. You can ask a fellow parent to loan you a diaper to try out on your baby if you are unsure of his or her size.

When it comes to the style of diaper you want, there are many choices. You can buy diapers with tape or Velcro fasteners. Some diapers are extra absorbent and others have extra padding on the rear or extra stretch in the elastic. There are diapers that convert into pants and diapers made for wearing overnight. There are even diapers for swimming. Figure out what kind of diaper will best suit your baby’s activities. These will be the most appropriate diapers for you to buy.

When should potty training begin?

It is not recommended to start toilet training until both you and your child are ready. Parents are ready when you are able to devote the time and energy necessary to encourage your child on a consistent basis for at least 3 months. Children are ready when they can signal that the diaper is wet or soiled, or say they would like to use the potty. This usually occurs when a child is 18 to 24 months of age. However, it is not uncommon for a child to still be in diapers at 2 and a half to 3 years of age.

How are pull-ups and potty training pants different?

The main difference in pull-ups and potty training pants is that potty training pants can be washed and reused. They are basically a thicker version of underwear, and they also allow your child to feel the wetness more than regular pull-ups. This may help your child potty train faster since they do not like the wet feeling. Also, since you will be washing and reusing them, you can decrease the out of pocket cost. Diapers are still advised for naps, nighttime, and running around. Potty training pants can help your child feel more like their older siblings since they are very similar to underwear; whereas pull-ups could still feel like a diaper.
