Why are roses so popular?

  • Roses are often associated with romance; that is why they are often chosen for wedding décor. They can represent love, beauty, and passion. For some time, roses have been associated with relationships and serve as a symbol of blossoming and lasting affection.
  • Roses come in many different varieties -- red roses, pink roses, white roses, yellow roses, and beyond. In addition, roses come in different sizes from small blossoms to larger rose flowers with delicate petals.
  • Roses can serve a variety of purposes -- from decorations for your wedding, to a beautiful bouquet for a special someone.

What do the different colors of roses signify?

    • Red roses are the most common of the rose varieties. Red signifies love and passion. True red is the color for lovers; fiery red roses are a reflection of passion; and, cardinal red symbolizes desire. Fully-bloomed red roses can signify lasting love, while budding, red roses are symbolic of new love.
    • Yellow roses signify friendship, familiar love, and domestic happiness. Yellow roses are also given as an expression of sympathy. A bouquet of yellow roses would be appropriate to give to a graduate upon graduation day or as a congratulatory gesture.
    • Pink roses are symbolic of elegance, gentility, and poetic romance, yet they are not given the intense significance of red rose love. Pink roses are understood to be light-hearted and can signify admiration. Light pink signifies sympathy and friendship, while dark pink is symbolic of thankfulness and deep appreciation.
    • White roses sometimes adorn a bride-to-be on her wedding day. They symbolize unity, sincerity, loyalty, purity, and love stronger than death. White roses are sometimes mixed with red roses to emphasize love.
