came undamaged, ply wood corners intact. My son put it together in less than 20 min.  It came with the couplers even tho it said it didn't.  I'll have to return the ones from home Depot I got, but no big deal.  the plywood is ugly but it doesnt matter cos im getting shelf liner to cover it.  seems pretty sturdy, but will be anchoring it to the wall.  all and all surpassed all the negative reviews and came in good shape with all accessories plus some

Upon delivery, the packaging had me worried, the boxes were torn and re-taped. I just knew there would be damage but turned out everything was fine. The instructions are very limited but the average person can figure it out. One person can put it together (like I did) but two would make it easier. I will order more if I need them in the future.

Meets my needs perfectly

This item works for what I need.  The particle board shelves are less that good, but work.  Just don't let them hit on any of it's corners.  It breaks off like a soft piece of chalk.  Both units I bought were missing the leg couplers, but the manufacturer sent them to me within about a week.  I like the adjustable shelf heights since not all my storage boxes are the same size.

Usable storage unit

These will be fine for light use. I wouldn't put them in my garage for heavy items like tools, but they are great in my storage room. The shelf part is really thin, junky chipboard, so be careful when putting it together, because they fall apart pretty easily (there were several large chunks already missing when I pulled them out of the box). I would never spend $110 (which is what the website says they are regularly), but for $50 on sale, they are great.

What you'd expect of a $50 shelf

I have purchased several heavy duty shelf sets over the past year; most have been quality units at quite a discount. Relative to these shelves, the others are far superior. With these units, you almost need three hands in order to get the second tier installed, and the entire unit remains unstable until all of the shelf boards are installed.
My two units arrived missing four of the framing rails and four of the end pieces were missing the brads necessary to install the these rails. I called the company and they were quite accommodating and promptly shipped out the missing pieces.
The bottom line is you get what you pay for: if you want a quality, heavy duty shelf set, this is not the one to buy-- spend the extra $$$$s and buy quality brand. If you are looking for some 2'X4'X6' shelving and your budget can't afford the first tier shelving pricing, then these units will probably meet your needs.

Recommendation--With Reseravations

The boxes the shelves were packed in were bad shape.  About half the corners of the wooden shelves were broken and the parts were missing.   Since the shelves are going in a storage unit, I was not as concerned with the cosmetics as I was functionality.   I called customer service about the missing parts and they said I should receive in 3 to 5 business days.  I didn't want to wait, so I went ahead and purchased an additional $18 dollars of nut, bolts, and washers to construct the shelving brackets.   The best part of my whole experience was the price because it was on sale.  But, it was almost like buying something used, because of the condition of the merchandise.

Barely acceptable

The shelves themselves do what they are suppose to do. The shipping of the shelves was terrible the corners were busted off had to get in touch with the company and wait three weeks for new ones the company did replace them. Now I have a bunch of busted shelves wondering how to get rid off them. The product is fine. What a pain of the over all process.

Feedback

Shelving is basically bulsa wood, took everything out of the box and the corners were chipped or broken. A few of the metal rails were bent so getting everything to fit right was a pain. If I didn't have a rubber mallet putting this together would have been extremely difficult. If you want the shelving side by side vs vertical the directions are. I help. Over all it's not a bad purchase, we will see how long it holds up

Average

I wouldn't trust this to hold anywhere close to the rated weight, for that it gets one star. Like everyone says, the MDF bows under medium weight. Not only does it seem like it could snap, but it minimizes the contact area supporting the shelf. If you think cutting stronger material (plywood) to replace the shelves will fix the issue; it may, but these shelves are 23.2 x 47.2 you wont find a hardware store allowed to trim such little amounts off their plywood. Muscle Rack / Edsal has different quality of the same products, this as you could imagine by the price is the "overseas" version. If you want a detailed explanation on how to fix it - read on.

My first step was trying to reach Edsal. I called %26 called their support number no answer. So I submitted an online ticket. My primary goal was to get these cross or tie bars I saw mentioned in a Depot review. The CSR was very nice and shipped out 10 at no charge, but said they probably wont fit because the Depot version is different (2x price) than this "overseas" version.  1 star for their assistance. The bars came %26 like she thought, they were too long.

Another review I saw made their own cross bars out of wood. So I grabbed a cheap 2x2 furring strip %26 got to work. I mitered the edges (36º) to fit in with the steel angle. This worked great. In hind sight the review did 2 per shelf which I should have done, I only did one in the center. When loading down the shelf, each side still had a little deflection. It would probably hold, but I wanted to make absolute sure before filling up every shelf. I looked for stronger shelf material, but like I said I couldn't find anyone who would cut it to the exact size. I turned to the steel cross bars Edsal provided. With a little hammering, I could flatten one end and expand out the hook to fit right over my center bar. I did this for all 5 shelves (10 bars) and now everything is very sturdy.

It is important to follow the directions for shelf placement, I saw a review that had the bottom shelf way higher than the 3rd hole, this will 100% cause the legs to bend. This version doesn't include plastic ends for the metal feet. Go grab some flooring samples to stand it on, or it will cut through your carpet. I recommend anchoring it to the wall. I didn't have studs, so I used 4x 250%23 T style toggles. Make sure to use some sort of shim so its not pulling the shelf back. Also for a safety railing on the sides, Harbor Freight has 24" zip ties, which fit great if you use a pair.

After all that I have about 400%23 on each shelf and it feels very sturdy. In the end it may be worth just buying a nicer shelf, but the extra work wasn't that hard.

It's just OK after fully reengineering

This is not a "heavy duty" shelf. It would be if the MDF shelves were thicker, but they are so thin that they bow in the center w/ very little on them. The company claims that each shelf can hold up to 800lb, for a total of 4000lb. That number is way beyond bogus! My shelves started bowing in the center as soon as I installed them, and looked like they were going to break appart w/ only 50lb on them! The connector brackets were also missing from the box, so I was only able to build 1/2 a shelf. I called the company's customer service and spoke to a lady that seemed like she dealt with this problem a lot, and said that they would send me out the brackets and "shelf supports". If they already have shelf supports designed to deal w/ this problem, why don't they come w/ the shelf?! They expect ppl to call them and complain first? 

So, 2 weeks later, I still hadn't received the missing parts. I called, and the lady claimed that they had "just come in", and would be shipped out right away. She sounded like she had just forgotten. The brackets arrived, and although the connector pieces are the correct ones, the "supports" are just random metal brackets, that don't fit the shelf at all! They are too short to span the shelf, and are configured in a way that they wouldn't work even if they did. They sent me a bunch of metal pieces that I can't use, and I still have 2 shelving units that can't hold more than lightweight office supplies, when I bought them to hold heavy product inventory!!!

Do not buy!
