Grown in the southern region of India, Sona Masoori Rice is an integral part of the South Indian Cuisine. Royal Sona Masoori Rice is aromatic and light in texture. This rice has been naturally aged for premium texture and flavor.
Versatile for Sweet and Savory Dishes
This medium-grained rice known as the “pearls of South India” and is typically used in dishes such as pongal (rice cooked in boiling milk), biryani (mixed rice dish with spices, vegetables, meat and/or seafood) and idli (savory rice cake). Because medium grain rice has slightly chewy grains when cooked, it sticks better to saucy foods. Use it to make coconut rice and lemon rice—both perfect complements to South India curries. Don't forget the desserts! It is equally delicious in dessert dishes like sweet rice puddings.
Cooking Instructions
Soak rice for 10-15 minutes (optional). For enhanced taste, add two teaspoons of oil or one tablespoon of butter and a pinch of salt for each dry cup of rice prepared. To remove excess starch from rice, rinse Royal Sona Masoori Rice one to two times, then drain. For firmer rice, use less water and reduce cooking time. For softer rice, use more water and increase cooking time.
