What is the history of South Sea pearls and where are they found?

South Sea pearls come in a classic pearl white hue with a subtle silvery finish. The ones used here are plump, classically round and impressively smooth—a vision of luxury.  A few factors make the pearls rare and therefore more valuable and exciting to own: first, the pearls produced are larger in size because the type of oyster they come from is also bigger. They are also only found in specific locations—mostly in Australia coming from silver-lipped oysters that are able to thrive there but in few other habitats. Last, the pearls take longer to form—about double the time as those from other oyster varieties.

What are cultured pearls?

Cultured pearls are real pearls from farmed mollusks. Although there are no major differences between the quality of natural and cultured pearls, cultured pearls are more consistent in size, shape and color.

What do pearls symbolize?

Commonly white and round as seen on these beautiful earrings, pearls are known for their unique luster. They symbolize calmness, purity, generosity and integrity. Pearls are believed to balance one's karma, strengthen relationships and keep children safe.

How are diamonds created?

Diamonds are formed deep beneath the earth surface, created under intense pressure and brought to the surface by hot volcanic activity.

What do diamonds symbolize?

Diamonds have been admired by objects of desire since ancient times and have been adorned by women and men for centuries for many reasons. Believed by Ancient Romans & Greeks to be the tears of gods or pieces of falling stars, diamonds are also said to have influence beyond love. Diamonds are said to bring the wearer great strength, protection, and clarity. Worn as protection in battle, diamonds have been embellished throughout histories & cultures.

What is the history of diamonds?

Diamonds have always been a sign of wealth, worn by elite classes and wealthy rulers—but in addition to being displayed as adornment and good luck charms, diamonds were also used as carving tools and even digested as medicine. The first diamonds were found in India and traded along the Silk Road, but as the supply dwindled in South Asia, other countries, including Brazil and South America, became the new suppliers. Today, production has increased to about 100 million carats per year across the globe.

What inspired this design?

Inspired by the beautiful relationship of the moon and the stars, the glorious earrings combine freshwater cultured pearls with brilliant twinkling diamonds. In this design, the moon is represented by the use of pearls and the stars are embodied by gorgeous diamonds. One incomplete without the other, they fit perfectly together creating a breathtaking style that can be a lovely gift for a loved one.
